Unit Quality Control and Food Safety
According to Mr. Goh, food quality and safety control exercised by the guidelines. The guidelines are adjusted to be used as a reference by the operators of food stalls not only in Bintulu even throughout Sarawak.
Starting in 2015, the new format will be
used. Prior to this, the level of
cleanliness of food premises
are assessed only from a physical standpoint
such as toilets and
sanitary premises. Now, in the assessment
carried a higher level and aspect emphasized is
that from the standpoint of risk. This judgement
using the merit system. For
example, employees must maintain the health and hygiene.
In addition, the merit was also assessed by looking at how the storage of food or raw materials.
The
objective is to minimize food premises grade
C at 5% only.
According to him, the information
in the form of data is important for
monitoring the effectiveness of the monitoring activities undertaken by
the unit quality
control and food
safety.
For
information, monitoring was conducted with the cooperation between the two parties, namely the the Ministry of
Health and Bintulu Development Authority (BDA). The purpose of the
inspection by the Ministry of Health is to control and
monitor the health of food while BDA also has its own ordinance
other than for the purpose of assessing licensing.
The frequency of monitoring depends on the grade of cleanliness of food premises, as shown below:
- Grade A= 1 time/year
- Grade B= 2 times/year
- Grade C= 4 times/year
For this new format, the premise of which did not reach the level above will be given a period of 14 days to clean the premises before starting operations again. Then, more frequent monitoring will be launched.
